New Character : Concepts by Sarah Taylor
These drawings were done by my fellow animator Sarah Taylor. She's got an amazing knack for creating concept sketches, and it always helps to get some input from a classical perspective. The design is going to follow her sketches a little more then my own. I might take the nose and eyes from mine... but Sarah got the mouth and the body of the character just right!

That left design is great, but I don't think it really matches your written description of baggy clothing and atypical female type. How old do you want her to be? I think you should stylize (simplify) the body further. Get rid of the breasts all together -gasp!- and bring it back towards YOUR lower left design - very simple lines on a younger character. A beautiful design is great, but it's pointless if it isn't what you want. Oh, and good luck with that long, flowing hair! I say go for it, but give her different hairstyle options as well as outfits. For example she can keep the same haircut but have it up in a really messy "do" with chopsticks; or covered with a hoodie.

I agree Tim, that the hair might be difficult, but the main focus was the face and the body, that's why I said the geometry will be interchangeable and swappable, I was thinking of pig-tails too. I want her to wear either a cool t-shirt or a hoodie like my design below. I did want to have her be a teenager, with a some "street smarts", not just a little girl with a cute smile... The breasts can go... but Sarah was pretty modest with them anyway. I really like the body Sarah did, I just might bring the pant legs down a bit... and have them hang over the shoes. This design is very close to "what I want" once I get to doing some ortho drawings, I'll refine the design and boil it down to it's essentials. These are still very rough concepts. Thanks for the crit.

Hi Chris. I really like your new character. She's very different from your other female concept's I've seen. I'm suprised your going for more of a cartoon feel considering most of your art is freakly realistic and detailed. I'll be very interested to see her when she's refined. It looks good.
Keep up the good work!
